Not Graduating in May . . .

Yup, you read that correctly.  Because Texas State can’t override me into the classes I need to graduate in May, I’m going to have to take at least 2 classes this summer.  On the one hand, I was going to be taking about 21 hours if they had gotten me into those classes.  21 hours, plus wedding and honeymoon planning, plus working out, plus managing the pet sitting business would’ve probably been waaaaayy too much.  But I still was really looking forward to participating in the big graduation ceremony in May, and finally being DONE.  *pout pout pout*

Now I’m off to get my dog walks done in time for my meeting at the bridal store to see if the undergarment I picked out will work with my dress.  Then, hopefully I’ll feel energetic enough to do some HIIT and a bit of weights at my gym.  Tonight, Steve and I have a core class at Rogue Running, so I don’t wanna push it too hard.

Thinking of better things . . . .

57 days til the wedding, and 59 til PARIS!!!

Now I’m Done

My dishwasher isn’t broken – yea!!!  Turns out, it was opened the last time it ran before the drying cycle had completed, and it needs to be in the START position before the soap dispenser will lock.  So crisis  (me having to wash dishes by hand)) averted.

I’m still not very good at this remembering to take pictures of my food thing.  I had coffee (organic Guatemalan bold roast) with heavy whipping cream and sugar, followed an hour later by scrambled eggs with a dash of Westsoy low-fat vanilla and a Kraft single melted on top.  Then it was Bikram yoga time.  I think part of the reason I’ve been so wiped out is that I only take a few sips of my generic Gatorade after class, and finish the rest of my hydration with water.  I finally looked at the serving size, and it’s eight ounces, not two.  Today I drank the whole eight ounces and while I felt better following the class than I normally do, I did pass out this evening for a three hour nap.  I probably would have kept sleeping right through the night if Steve hadn’t come to check on me.

Um, I also had two Chalupa supremes after class, but let’s gloss over that, shall we?

Dinner was Progresso classic chicken noodle soup with part of one of those  Harry and David pears I love.  Gotta have cheese with those pear slices – extra sharp, baby!

Tomorrow is late registration for me.  I’m praying they have added more sections and have openings in the classes I need!  It’s my last semester, and I currently am only signed up for 7 of the 18 credit hours I need to graduate in May.  Tomorrow is also when I get to see if the undergarment option I came up with will work with my wedding dress.  So I guess tomorrow is kind of a pivotal day for me!

Japanese Ham Sandwich

That’s one of those weird  Bikram sayings in the title there.  I made it to my 4pm class today!  After the weights yesterday, I definitely needed a good all over stretching.  On tap tomorrow is a 12pm class, since I don’t have any dogs to walk in the middle of the day.  I *may* even do a strength training class at my gym at 6:15pm if I have the energy.

I managed to get a picture of how blue the skies have been here while I was out walking one of my dog clients this afternoon.

Isn’t that uplifting?  I love getting to be outside everyday, even when it’s cold and raining.  Experiencing the weather firsthand really makes me feel connected.

My eating today would’ve not been too shabby, had I not kept eating Twizzlers one at a time from the 1lb bag we have sitting on the kitchen counter.  Time to put those babies in the pantry.  If I can’t see them, I don’t crave them.

Breakfast was baby carrots and garlic hummus (and Twizzlers), followed by a snack of some unsalted mini pretzels.  Lunch was a bowl of oatmeal with 1TBS butter and 1TBS brown sugar, along with a mini whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and some lox (and Twizzlers).  Then after yoga I came home and had more pretzels, more carrots with hummus, half of a Harry and David pear with some extra sharp cheddar cheese, and 2 Hershey’s special dark nuggets with almonds (and Twizzlers – dammit!).

In anticipation of our honeymoon trip to Paris and all the amazing things I plan on eating, I looked up menus to French restaurants in Paris online and made myself feel vaguely hungry all evening.  Seriously, I am SO excited for out trip, and I keep listing to Steve all the things I plan on eating:  warm buttery croissants, chocolates from Vosages, chocolate croissants, Bearnaise sauce on everything, pomme frittes, crepes, real baguettes and croque monsieurs, CHEESE – basically my list goes on and on.  AND I heard their milk and butter is way better than here in America, I think because of the fat content and pasteurization laws?

Heath Bars Aren’t a Vegetable – Are They?

Mmm . . .  I sure do love me some heath bars!  That’s why it’s such a big deal that today I only had THREE of the minis from a new bag after dinner.  Serving size says 6, so I’d doubly proud of myself for staying under the serving size.  I was supposed to do Bikram this evening, but since I decided that weights will change my body more in the little time I have left before my wedding on March 5th than yoga will, I made my butt go to my gym.  And what a surprise I had waiting for me! I had forgotten about all the New Year’s enthusiasts that hit up gyms this time of year.  We went at 8:30pm, which normally would be D-E-A-D, but every single cardio machine was taken.  And there was this couple where the dude is all big and buff and he’s “training” his girlfriend who keeps asking what weight she should be using and he counts her reps for her.  They were on the squat machine 35 freakin’ minutes.  The squat machine is my main piece of equipment when I go to the gym, and I was steaming.  All I had wanted to do was run, and do the squat machine and some upper body stuff.  Instead, and probably for the better, I went and did every exercise I could think of, harder than I intended cause I was getting more and more irritated.  So on the one hand, thank you to that couple.  Probably did me a favor.  Once my anger reached a certain level I went over and asked them if they would be done soon.  And just like that they were!  They moved on to the machine next to me, and me being the passive-aggressive bitch that I am, I proceeded to do single leg presses with the same amount of weight the girl had been doing her regular presses with (this machine requires you to put on the weight you want to press).  LOTS of them.  It was more weight than I usually press, and at first I was scared I’d hurt my knees, but then I said screw it and just went for it.  So I’m absolutely certain my thighs and butt will be very sore tomorrow.  Just like I wanted!  Thank you annoying gym couple!!!

So – on to today’s food.  I’m proud of myself, calorie-wise.  I had Guatemalan bold roast with 1 TBS of heavy whipping cream and some sugar, plus one packet of Quaker’s peaches ‘n’ cream oatmeal.

Lunch was 4 leftover Honey BBQ Buffalo Wild Wings with celery and a bit of their blue cheese dipping sauce.  What?  You didn’t think I’d eat celery PLAIN, did you?

Then I snacked on some of Snyder of Hanover’s unsalted mini pretzels while I worked on getting out December’s invoices to our pet sitting clients.  Dinner was courtesy of Steve, and it was Barilla’s pasta plus (fusilli) with some sundried tomato alfredo sauce.

And then dessert was the aforementioned Heath mini bars (3), and 1 Hershey’s special dark kiss.  After putting our time in at the gym, I came home and had part of a banana and two more of the dark chocolate kisses.  Not too bad, for me!

Tomorrow has Bikram yoga on the schedule from 4 to 5:30pm.  And of course, dog walks in the middle of the day.  I should really post a picture of how blue the sky has been here.  Even though it’s been chilly (in the 40′s when I walk dogs), it’s still been clear and sunny for the most part.  Very different from winters in Cleveland!

Clouds Make Me Sleepy

Hmm . .  where did I leave off?  So I spent my Friday night playing SIMS3.  I got the new expansion World Adventurer for Christmas, so I had to give it a whirl.  I hadn’t played that game since before the fall semester started, cause once I start I can NOT stop.  Sure enough, I stayed up til almost 3am playing it while sitting on my couch all wrapped up in a fleece blanket.  Exciting, huh?  Oh!  We also had another made-from-scratch pizza on our new pizza stone I bought us for Christmas.  It was AMAZING.  Steve is getting pretty good at this pizza making business.

Did a morning client walk at 8:30am on Saturday, then went back to bed and slept until 12:30pm!!!  That NEVER happens.  I nearly always wake between 8 and 9am unless I have an alarm to wake me earlier.  Damn SIMS!  I was all discombobulated the rest of the day.  For once I drank all my morning coffee.

I did make it to my 5:30 Bikram yoga though! Campbell’s Chunky Beef and Vegetable soup with some french bread for dipping was a quick dinner when I got back, and then I had more dog walks in the evening.

Today, Sunday the 3rd, I started out with a small bowl of Kashi Go Lean Honey Almond Flax.  This is my current cereal obsession.  I buy it two boxes at a time!  When I’m too hungry/hurried to make a breakfast, this is what I turn to.  I also use it as a snack before or after dinner.  Did a few client walks in a light drizzle, then it was time to head to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Browns’ game (which they won!), where I proceeded to ruin my week’s exercise with boneless wings and their chili con queso dip with tortilla chips.

Big suprise, with a meal like that, after picking my dog up from a friend’s and doing some returns at the mall, we were too groggy to go to our core class we do at a local running shop twice a week.  The clouds, the drizzle, the chill in the air – all we wanted to do was go home and veg.  So that’s what we’re up to right now, and it’s wonderful!

2010, Day 1

Luckily I didn’t drink last night, so I’m waking up feeling pretty good.  Ok, I’m actually really really tired cause I stayed up way too late and had to get up early-ish for a client walk.  And I would have been drinking if my Mai Tai hadn’t been too strong for me (I like ‘em weak and fruity).

We got dinner at CPK last night (I’m addicted to their tortilla soup).  Even though I had my camera with me, I forgot to get any pictures.  It’s been a challenge to remember to photograph my food before I eat it!  So I had tortilla soup and some of their new steak tacos and two of their tortilla chips.  And it was all awesome.  I’m a BIG fan of CPK.  Which is weird, because I wasn’t really into their food when I worked there and got it for free.

Unless someone contacts us last minute, I don’t have any other walks until tonight!  We’re planning on a few errands and taking our own pooch on a little outing.  Maybe I’ll finally get around to trying out my new SIMS3 expansion pack!  Yes!  Now that’s an awesome way to start the new year.

Socialize your dog!

The title today comes from my attempts to care for a terrified puggle yesterdy and today.  If your dog isn’t socialized, it makes it extremely difficult for anyone else to care for your pet in the event you can’t!

Anyways, on to breakfast.  I had one of my usuals – two eggs scrambled with a little milk, topped with melted cheese (in this case Kraft single – classy).  Then a big cup of water (Ihave about 2-3 of these with every meal) and a cup of coffee with 1/2 a cup of 1% and 3 heaping spoonfuls of granulated sugar.  Nothing fancy.

I opened up a new coffee variety yesterday.  It’s called “Fall Spice”.  I’m a hard-core dark roast sort of girl, the darker the better, so I was skeptical.   This is only a medium, but it’s reminiscent enough of a pumpkin spice latte that  I can roll with it.

I’ve only got one afternoon dog walk, and one evening dog walk, so I’m hoping to be able to get some Bikram in today.  I was thwarted by a flat tire yesterday, and a not-well-socialized dog this morning.  The fact that Bikram makes my hair completely sopping wet and that I don’t like using a blow-dryer may keep me away from the 4:30pm class I wanna take, considering tonight is New Year’s eve and we have plans.  Guess I’ll just have to see how the day plays out!
